On this one-year add-on degree programme, you will learn about the engineering and planning methods associated with the design, construction and maintenance of civil engineering structures and facilities. The course will enable you to gain the academic and scientific capability necessary to make a significant contribution to civil engineering construction operations and to create an awareness of environmental considerations in civil engineering.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering (Level 6) or an approved equivalent Level 6 qualification.

Semester 1Mathematics, Structural Analysis & Design, Geotechnical Engineering, Costing & Engineering Management,
plus one of the following elective options
civil engineering electives
Environmental Engineering & Hydraulics, and Project and CAD

highway/traffic engineering electives

Semester 2

Progression
As a graduate of this programme you are eligible to apply to join the Bachelor Of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering, provided you have an overall Merit 2 (50-59%) or higher and achieve at least 70% in the Mathematics module or a pass in bridging Mathematics (offered to students by AIT). Alternatively, you may wish to apply for admission to Year 2 of a three-year degree programme or to Year 3 of a four-year honours degree (Level 8) course in civil engineering at other third-level institutions.
